A new report by human rights group Amnesty International has said that hundreds of people trying to flee the fighting in Syria are being turned back at the border with Jordan and other neighbouring countries.

Amnesty said the situation is unacceptable.

Jordanian authorities maintain that they have kept their borders open to Syrian refugees.

Amnesty International said several categories of people are being denied entry.

The categories include Palestinian and Iraqi refugees who have been living in Syria, those without identity documents and unaccompanied men with no family in Jordan.
