A 27-year-old man who collapsed at the finish line of Monday's marathon in Dublin has died in hospital.

Ricki Savage, who was from England, was treated at the finish line by the St John's Ambulance medical crew on site.

He was transferred to St Vincent's Hospital where he remained in a stable but very serious condition until he died this afternoon.

The organisers of the Airtricity Dublin Marathon expressed their sincere condolences to the family and friends of Mr Savage.

Over 14,500 runners took part in the marathon this year.
