A security alert in Lurgan, Co Armagh has ended after two suspicious objects found close to a railway line were found to be elaborate hoaxes.

All train services through the area were cancelled or delayed while British army bomb officers assessed the situation.

Meanwhile, in Derry a number of people were forced to leave their homes for a time during separate alerts in the city that also proved to be hoaxes.

A controlled explosion was carried out on a suspicious device in the Mimosa Court area of Derry.

The second alert was in the vicinity of Strabane Old Road.
