A 58-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of Barry McCrory.
Kieran McLaughlin was also accused of possessing a firearm and ammunition.
35-year-old Mr McCrory was shot dead at a flat in Derry city centre on 10 October.
During the hearing at the Magistrates' Court in Derry, Mr McLaughlin spoke only to confirm his name and to indicate he understood the charge.
A PSNI detective said there were no terrorist connections to the case.
There was no application for bail and Mr McLaughlin was remanded in custody.
