A woman has died in a house fire in Co Wicklow.

Emergency services were called to the scene at Monastery Grove in Enniskerry shortly before 5am.

The body of the woman, named locally as Jackie Murphy, was discovered in a bedroom.

The victim in her late 40s was a mother of three children.

A boy and a girl, aged 13 and 15, managed to escape the fire by jumping from an upstairs window.

They were taken to Our Lady’s Children's Hospital in Crumlin where they are being treated for minor injuries.

There were no other people in the house, which was badly damaged in the blaze.

A neighbouring house was also extensively damaged by smoke and water.

The scene has been sealed-off for a technical examination.
