A man has been arrested and a sum of cash has been recovered following a cash-in-transit robbery in Clondalkin, in west Dublin.

Another man is being sought by gardaí over the incident.

Two men approached a cash-in-transit worker as he was making a delivery to a premises at Bawnogue Shopping Centre at around 11.20am.

They threatened him with what is described as a handgun before making off in a waiting vehicle with a sum of money.

A passing garda patrol observed the vehicle leaving the car park and followed it a short distance to Kilmahuddrick where they arrested one man and recovered cash and a firearm.

The man, aged in his 30s, is being held at Clondalkin Garda Station.
