Gardaí are trying to identify anyone who may have called to a house in Dublin city centre where a man was found with fatal stab wounds yesterday afternoon.

John Maguire died after he was attacked at his home in Ormond Square.

The 51-year-old had been stabbed in the back and neck.

Mr Maguire was found fatally injured at the small terraced house he shared with his partner.

He was discovered by a neighbour who found the front door open.

There was no sign of a break-in and nothing appears to have been stolen.

Gardaí at the Bridewell have appealed to anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area to contact them.
