The Army bomb disposal team has made safe two viable pipe bombs found in Annacotty, Co Limerick.
The improvised explosive devices were discovered in a field beside a river in the town.
Gardaí requested the assistance of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team after the suspicious objects were uncovered.
The team arrived on scene at 1pm and after an initial assessment the devices were confirmed as viable and were taken to a military location for further examination.
Component parts and evidence will be handed over to gardaí.
