A man in his 20s has died in a road crash in Co Clare.

The man died when his car hit a wall on the Sixmilebridge to Shannon road at around 4.30am.

His body has been removed to University Hospital Limerick.

Gardaí have appealed to anyone with information to contact Shannon Garda Station on 061-365900 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-111-666.

Elsewhere, a 36-year-old motorcyclist died in a crash in Co Westmeath.

The man was travelling on the old N6 between Rochfortbridge and Milltownpass when his motorcycle struck a fence and a stone pillar at around 7.45pm yesterday.

His body was removed to Midlands Regional Hospital, Tullamore.
