A man and woman held over the death of Audrius Butkus, whose body was found on a beach in Co Meath, have been released without charge.

The partially clothed body of the 44-year-old was found on Mornington Beach on Tuesday morning.

He was originally from Lithuania, but had been living in Ireland for four years.

A post-mortem examination found that Mr Butkus was stabbed several times and sustained serious head injuries.

A second woman who  was also arrested was released without charge yesterday.

A file is to be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
