An investigation is being carried out after human skeletal remains were found at Kilakee Mountain, Rathfarnham, in Dublin last night.

The discovery was made by a member of the public while out walking at approximately 7.30pm.

Early indications suggest the remains are that of a woman.

The remains have been removed to the State Morgue in Marino for post-mortem examination.

Deputy State Pathologist Dr Micahel Curtis and a forensic anthropologist examined the scene where the remains were discovered.

A garda search team has combed the area looking for clothes and other identifiable items.
