Two men have been arrested by gardaí investigating a Dutch-based crime gang that has strong Irish connections.
The men, one aged in his 30s the other in his 40s, were detained following seven searches in the Dublin and Meath areas today.
They are being held at Blanchardstown Garda Station.
The searches were part of Operation Majesty, an international investigation being led by the Garda National Drugs Unit into the trafficking of controlled substances into Ireland.
Gardaí have been working closely with Dutch, German, and UK authorities in relation to the activities of one particular Dutch-based organised crime gang with strong Irish connections.
It is believed that this particular gang has been responsible for the exportation of cannabis from The Netherlands into Ireland and the UK via the postal system.
The gang has also been investigated by the Organised Crime Squad in Rotterdam.
