Two men have been found dead after a shooting at a remote farm in the Feystown Road area of Glenarm in Co Antrim.

The two men, believed to be a dairy farmer and one of his workers, were discovered at around 5.15pm.

It is understood a farm worker discovered the bodies and alerted the police.

Forensic teams are at the scene carrying out examinations.

A Police Service of Northern Ireland spokesman said: "An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths is under way."

Local Sinn Féin Assembly member Oliver McMullan said the community was stunned by what he described as a "double tragedy".

"The community is in a state of shock as both men were well known within this tight knit community", he said.

Mr McMullan hailed the neighbouring farmers who had stepped in to keep the farm running while police carried out their investigation.

SDLP councillor Martin Wilson said: "The entire community will be united in their sense of grief at this shocking and disturbing occurrence.

At this stage the indications are the police may not be looking for anyone else in relation to the two deaths.
