A man has been killed and another man injured in an accident at the Greenstar waste recycling facility in the Ballymount Industrial Estate in Dublin.

The 41-year-old man was working with a forklift when he received crush injuries at around 3pm.

The man was involved in an operation to store old kitchen appliances.

Both men were taken to Tallaght Hospital, where one of the men was later pronounced dead.

Investigations are under way by gardaí and the Health and Safety Authority.

Greenstar said operations were immediately suspended at the facility and a full internal investigation has been launched into the incident.
