Four rescued from currach off Achill Island

Four people have been rescued off Achill Island after their currach developed engine trouble.

The men were forced to tie their boat to a lobster pot mooring rope to prevent their boat from drifting toward Minaun Cliffs,south of Purteen Harbour near Keel. 

The four alerted emergency services and were rescued by Achill coastguard.

Their currach was towed ashore by the coastguard boat assisted by the Achill RNLI.
