Visiting has resumed at Letterkenny General Hospital following the flooding which happened a week and a half ago.

A total ban on visiting had been in place since the flooding but the HSE announced that the hospital has reopened to visitors since this evening.

In a statement the HSE said that "the hospital has set up a 'clean zone' so that visitors are coming to the wards via uncontaminated areas.

Visitors will only be able to access these specific areas during the visiting times to ensure there is no cross contamination brought into the ward areas.

Visitors are requested to follow all hand hygiene procedures and to follow any staff directions.
