A major blaze at a propane plant in the US state of Florida has been brought under control.

All of the workers at the plant in Tavares have been accounted for.

It was originally reported that 15 people were missing.

Eight people were injured in the explosions at the Blue Rhino plant late last night.

At least three of them are in a critical condition.

A crew of up to 29 people were working at the plant when the explosions happened.

Some reports say the explosions continued for about an hour.

The blasts are thought to have been as a result of either equipment failure or human error.

Foul play is not suspected.

Residents within 1.5km of the site were moved away from the site for a time before being allowed to return to their homes.
