A vehicle testing firm has been fined €25,000 arising from a fatal school bus crash in 2006.

The penalty was imposed on O'Reilly Commercials Ltd by Judge Heneghan in the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

Judge Heneghan found the company had failed to ensure passengers were not exposed to safety risks.

The case arose as the result of an investigation into an accident resulting in the death of a 15-year-old student, Michael White, and injuries to others.

The accident occurred when a bus was carrying students to school on a stretch of road near Clara in Co Offaly on 4 April 2006.
