Gardaí investigating the discovery of a body at a derelict house in Phibsboro in Dublin say they are confident they have identified the dead man.

However, officers say the identification will not be fully confirmed until DNA analysis is completed later in the week.

The body was discovered earlier this week at Royal Canal Bank Way, Dublin 7.

It is believed the remains may have been at the property since 2009.

A post-mortem examination revealed the man died of natural causes.
