Gardaí are appealing for the public's help in identifying a body that was found at a derelict house in Phibsboro, Dublin.

A member of the public discovered the badly decomposed body at 44 Royal Canal Bank Way.

Gardaí believe the body may have been there since 2009. They described the man as being of thin build, and about 5'5'' or 5'6'' tall.

He was wearing size six Navy boots, navy or black combat style trousers, a green stripped jumper and a Pulsar watch.

A post-mortem examination revealed that he died of natural causes.

Gardaí are checking missing person reports and examining dental records in an effort to establish his identity. DNA testing will also be used.
