Fashion app wins Enterprise Ireland awardWednesday 10 July 2013 19.55
Two childhood friends from Dublin who developed a new fashion app have won the Enterprise Ireland "One to Watch" award for 2013.
"Style-Eyes" is a free smartphone, tablet and computer application developed in Dublin City University by Dr Mark Hughes and Bobby Pringle.
Funded by Enterprise Ireland and developed by CLARITY (the Centre for Sensor Web Technologies), "Style- Eyes" aims to make fashion more accessible.
When the user takes a photograph of an item of clothing on their phone, "Style-Eyes" uses image recognition technology to search through a large fashion retail database.
It then brings back that exact product or a similar match.
The app is reaching its final stages of development and will soon be available for download.
The Enterprise Ireland "One to Watch" award is presented each year to a researcher.
The researcher must have received commercialisation funding from Enterprise Ireland and is deemed to have demonstrated high levels of innovation and potential to bring technologies to the marketplace.
