A fire which broke out at a laboratory on the campus of Trinity College has been brought under control by fire fighters.

There have been no reports of anyone being injured in the blaze which broke out at around 1.30pm.

At one stage there were 11 different units of Dublin Fire Bigrade attending the scene, including the chemical incident unit.

The fire fighters had to wear chemical suits to tackle the fire because of the presence of ether.

The building was evacuated. Traffic diversions around Pearse St are still in place. Gardaí are not treating the blaze as suspicious.
