Minister for Health James Reilly has expressed concern about issues raised in a planned RTÉ Prime Time programme on creches.

He said Minister for Children Frances Fitzgerald was also concerned.

Mr Reilly said he would be watching the issue closely and awaited the report from the Health Service Executive.

He also said he would have no problem with HSE inspection reports of creches being published.

Concerns were raised after footage was recorded by RTÉ's Investigations Unit which is to be broadcast early next week.

In a statement yesterday, RTÉ said the programme demonstrates that standards of childcare in three creches were in breach of HSE regulations and childcare guidelines.

The three are: Links crèche in Abington in Dublin; Giraffe crèche in Belarmine, Stepaside, Dublin; and Little Harvard in Rathnew, Co Wicklow.

Gardaí are also investigating the reports.
