Search at home of murdered former garda called offWednesday 22 May 2013 00.02
Work on excavating the rear patio of a house in Co Cavan in the search for the body of a murder victim has been called off.
No remains were found in the search operation.
The home at Cornaveigh near Bailieborough belonged to former detective garda John Kerins, who was murdered there last November.
Two men, both in their 30s, were arrested yesterday in connection with the fatal shooting.
They were tonight released without charge..
Excavators removed a large amount of concrete that was laid at the rear of Mr Kerins' house shortly after a near neighbour, Gerard Daly, disappeared two years ago.
The two men were acquaintances and had planned to go into business together.
However, 42-year-old Mr Daly vanished without a trace and gardaí suspect he has been killed.
Earlier this year Mr Daly's disappearance became a formal murder investigation.
