Three people have been arrested as part of an investigation into a string of robberies in the south east.

Two women, aged in their 50s and late teens, and a man, aged in his late teens, were arrested in Carlow following the search of two houses.

The younger woman is due to appear before a special sitting of Gorey District Court this evening.

Stolen property worth over €5,000, including perfume, clothing and electrical items, were recovered.

The property is linked to a number of thefts at retail outlets in recent months.

The other woman and the young man are being held at Enniscorthy Garda Station.
