A man in his 40s has been remanded on continuing bail in relation to charges of dangerous driving causing death.

Two-year-old Kate Gilmore and her 12-week-old sister, Grace, died following a collision on the outskirts of Tuam, Co Galway, on the afternoon of Sunday 21 October, 2012.

John O'Connor, with an address at Tullinadaly Road in Tuam, faces a total of four charges.

When the case came before Judge Geoffrey Browne at Tuam District Court this morning, Inspector Michael O'Dywer requested that it be put back until 28 May for service of the book of evidence.

Inspector O'Dwyer said it was his understanding that the book of evidence would be ready by this time.

Mr O'Connor has been charged with dangerous driving causing death on 21 October last.

He is also charged with failing to remain at the scene of an accident; dangerous driving at another location in Tuam on the same date and with failing to make a required declaration on a driving licence application.

He was arrested by arrangement last week and charged at a special court sitting last Wednesday.

Mr O'Connor, who was in court this morning, did not speak during the proceedings.
