A 22-year-old man has been charged with the attempted murder of a teenager in Magherafelt, Co Derry.

The 17-year-old youth was stabbed in the incident in the Rainey Street area of the town in the early hours of yesterday.

He was taken to hospital for treatment, but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The charged man also faces two counts of possession of an offensive weapon.

He is due to appear in court in Derry tomorrow.
