A man has been arrested in connection with the theft of €9,000 from Balbriggan Garda Station.

The man in his mid-30s was arrested this morning.

The money was part of €26,000 recovered by gardaí after it was stolen during an armed robbery at Lusk post office in January.

When the owner went to the garda station to retrieve it, a small tear was found in the bag and €9,000 was missing.

The stolen money has not been recovered.

The man is being detained at a Dublin city garda station and can be held for up to 24 hours.
