Two people were treated in hospital following an aggravated burglary in Cork this morning.

Three men, armed with implements, broke into a house in Monastery Hill off Blarney Street at 2.40am.

A man and a woman living in the house were allegedly assaulted and taken to Cork University Hospital.

Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Two other occupants in the house were unharmed.

The three suspects fled the scene but two men, aged 32 and 25, were arrested a short time later and are being held at Gurranbraher Garda Station.

The third man escaped on foot.
