A prayer vigil will be held tonight in Headford, Co Galway, to commemorate a nine-year-old girl from the community who has died following two liver transplants.
Wiktoria Kubaczyk died in a London hospital yesterday, after succumbing to an infection.
She had spent the last eight months in London, having travelled there last summer for a liver transplant.
The initial operation was not a success and a second transplant took place in August 2012.
Wiktoria was scheduled to have a bone marrow transplant tomorrow at Great Ormond Street Hospital, after a compatible donor had been found in Germany
Her parents, who are originally from Poland, have been living in Co Galway for a number of years.
Headford Parish Priest, Fr Ray Flaherty, said the community had shown great support to the family in recent months.
Wiktoria's health problems had been the focus of a major fundraising campaign in the area, with almost €30,000 raised by the local community.
Funeral arrangements have yet to be finalised, but Fr Flaherty said tonight's prayer service will give people a chance to remember the little girl and her family.
