There were minor disturbances tonight at a Setanta Cup soccer match in Belfast between Shamrock Rovers and Linfield at Windsor Park.

PSNI riot police were called to the ground as rival fans hurled insults at each other.

It is understood a number of seats were ripped up and thrown onto the pitch.

A flare was also thrown causing the match to be stopped briefly.

The several hundred Shamrock Rovers fans, who had made the journey from Dublin for the game, were segregated in a corner of the stadium away from the Linfield supporters.

Rovers won the game 3-1, and 7-2 on aggregate.
