Bus Éireann has said it is disappointed by the decision of SIPTU members to reject proposals by the Labour Court in relation to the company's cost recovery plan.

In a ballot today, SIPTU members at the company voted by almost nine to one to reject proposals to change the terms and conditions of their employment.

Among the court’s proposals was an increase in the working week of clerical and executive staff from 36 hours to 39.

Bus Éireann is seeking a €9m cut in payroll costs due to rising fuel costs, falling passenger numbers and a cut in its Government subvention.
