Police in Northern Ireland have recovered a rocket launcher and a warhead during the search of a house in west Belfast.

The search, at Hawthorn Street, was carried out as part of an investigation into dissident republican activity.

The items were taken away for forensic examination.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "These weapons systems are clearly intended to kill and we should be in no doubt that the recovery of these items has saved lives."
