A new report has called for greater collaboration between further and higher education providers of creative arts and media courses in the Dublin region.

The report, published by the Higher Education Authority, also calls on institutes and colleges offering courses in these areas to develop stronger links with industry and match course offerings to skills shortages.

The Review of the Provision of Creative Arts Programmes in Dublin makes a range of recommendations, including greater mobility of staff between different levels of education, as well as between the colleges and private enterprise.

It says arts education providers should develop strategic partnerships with business and the cultural industries, as well as more work based learning provision.

The review says implementation of its recommendations will depend on reforms taking place at institutional and other levels.

It called for what it calls a "whole of Government approach" to the issue.
