Gardaí are investigating the deaths of a man and woman in a B&B in Carlow.

The bodies were found with gunshot wounds in the house on Centaur Street at around 1.30pm.

A firearm was found at the scene.

Gardaí are trying to identify the victims, who are believed to have been in their fifties.

The scene was preserved for a forensic examination and the State Pathologist’s office was notified.

The Stonehaven B&B is on Centaur Street in the centre of the town.

The woman was found upstairs, while the man's body was discovered downstairs.
