Gardaí in Cork are appealing for witnesses after a hit-and-run incident on the Old Youghal Road.

A 9-year-old boy was struck by a car that failed to stop at an area between Dillons Cross and Gordons Hill at 5pm.

The boy is being treated in hospital for fractures to his leg.

Gardaí are appealing to the driver of a beige or silver coloured Nissan Primera car that was in the area at that time to contact them.
