An investigation is under way after a man’s body was found in a hotel in Carlow.

It is believed the man, who was in his 40s and from the Dublin area, had been tied up. There were no apparent signs of injuries.

The dead man was discovered around 2pm in a bedroom of the Talbot Hotel on the outskirts of Carlow town.

Gardaí have called in the Deputy State Pathologist Dr Michael Curtis to carry out a post mortem examination.

The hotel management is making no comment on the matter at present.
