A former Christian Brother has been found guilty of seven counts of indecently assaulting three boys at a secondary school in Cork in the 1980s.

Edward Bryan, 59, of Martinvilla, Athboy Road, Trim, Co Meath, was convicted by majority verdicts at Cork Circuit Criminal Court, after the jury had deliberated for more than 12 hours.

He was remanded in custody for sentencing on 1 March, when victim impact statements will be delivered to the court.

Judge Sean O Donnabháin said he was remanding Mr Bryan in custody because his status had changed "irredeemably and irrevocably" with the verdict of the jury.
