The army has made safe a viable explosive device on Preston Street area of Dublin city centre.
The suspect device was found outside a private residence. The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team was deployed after a request from the Gardai.
Rail lines that are in the vicinity of the find were also shut as a precaution.
The suspect device was rendered safe without the need for a controlled explosion and was then moved to a secure military location for further technical examination and testing.
The scene was declared safe at 4pm.
