One man has been sent forward for trial at the Central Criminal Court on a charge of murder following his appearance at Cavan District Court today.

Przemyslaw Trebacz with an address at Bramble Rise, Killynebber, Cavan, is charged with murdering Costel Catalin Cretu on 13 October last at Connolly Court, Connolly Street, Cavan.

He is also charged with damaging the door to an apartment owned by Brendan Cosgrove on the same occasion.

Inspector Seamus Boyle told the court that the State was seeking a remand in custody pending his trial at the Central Criminal Court.

Judge Seán MacBride sent the accused forward for trial and assigned a senior and junior counsel for this defence.

Another man charged arising from the same incident was sent forward for trial at Cavan Circuit Criminal Court.

Marcin Kalinowski from Rathdrum, Drumalee, Cavan was charged with entering an apartment in Connolly Court on the same occasion with intent to stab.

He is also charged with threatening another man and damaging a door at the apartment.

Judge MacBride sent him forward for trial at the next sitting of the local Circuit Criminal Court in 5 March.
