A 32-year-old man has been remanded in custody in Australia, charged in connection with the stabbing of an Irishman in Perth at the weekend.

The 21-year-old, from Wexford, is in a critical condition after being stabbed in the neck in the Scarborough area of the city on Sunday.

Vincent Martin Crowe was charged with causing grievous bodily harm and is due to appear in court again on 25 February.

Detectives believe a person who alerted the police may have recorded the altercation on their mobile phone.

Police are asking them to come forward to help with the investigation.
