Police in north Belfast are investigating after an explosive device was thrown at a PSNI patrol in the Old Park Road area last night.

Following a search of the area, a suspicious object was found on the road.

British Army bomb experts later declared it to be a viable pipe bomb.

It was taken away for further examination.
