Met Éireann has issued weather warnings of strong winds and gusts particularly on Atlantic coasts.

It also warns of exceptionally high waves on Atlantic coasts today, which will bring a threat of coastal flooding, especially at times of high tide.

There are reports of flooding and fallen trees on roads in different parts of the country.

The weather station at NUI Galway reported that almost 1cm of rain fell between 10am and 12pm.

Crews from Galway City Council worked to facilitate the clearing of drains and gullies after a number of businesses along Flood Street and Spanish Parade suffered water damage.
