Gardaí in Clonakilty in west Cork earlier closed a number of streets and advised people to avoid the centre of the town due to flooding.

The flooding was caused by several hours of heavy rain and high tide at 4.30pm.

However, while there was flood water on a number of streets in the town centre and adjacent to the sea, it did not appear to cause any damage to property there.
