The body of a 56-year-old man has been recovered from the sea west of the village of Barna in Co Galway.
The man had been reported missing at lunchtime yesterday.
A search involving the Shannon marine rescue helicopter and Galway Lifeboat was launched this afternoon, after clothes were found on a beach in Barna.
It is understood the man had lived in the Galway area for some time.
The body was taken to University Hospital Galway.
It is expected a post-mortem examination will be carried out later.
