One of London's busiest train stations was evacuated this morning because of a fire on a train.

Disruption is expected after the fire in the undercarriage of a Gatwick Express at London Victoria station.

The fire was extinguished before 7.25am. Station gates have been opened and commuters are being allowed in. Trains are running from most platforms though major delays are expected.

On its Twitter feed, Southern Rail confirmed the damaged train was a Gatwick Express service, adding: "No one was hurt which was good."
