Appeal as burglars target elderly Donegal womanTuesday 15 January 2013 11.05
Gardaí are appealing for information following a burglary at the home of an elderly woman in the Pettigo area of Donegal.
Three men wearing hooded tops pushed the 78-year-old woman to the ground in her home in the townland of Belalt at 10.10pm on Saturday night.
They stole money from her and ransacked her home before leaving in a car in the direction of Pettigo village.
The woman made her way to the road and flagged down a passing motorist who took her to a neighbour’s house.
The woman was the victim of another burglary at her home last November.
Earlier this month, a 96-year-old woman was punched in the ribs during a burglary at her home in Buncrana.
Community alert activists have called on the Government to tackle the problem of burglaries on the elderly.
