Seven people have been rescued from a burning yacht off Dún Laoghaire in Dublin.

The boat caught fire just before midday and the alarm was raised.

The crew was rescued by Dún Laoghaire Lifeboat and taken ashore.

In a separate operation, a kite surfer was rescued after getting into difficulty off Sandycove in Dublin.

The Dún Laoghaire lifeboat and the coast guard rescue helicopter took part in the operation.

The man did not require any medical assistance.
