The mother of a Dublin man who has been missing since Christmas Day has asked for the help of the public in finding him.

Paul Byrne, 24, was last seen near his home in Rush in north Co Dublin at around 3am on 25 December.

Mary Byrne said it was a "mystery" what had happened to Paul, adding that somebody must know something about his disappearance.

She said he had not sat down for Christmas dinner and she wanted him home.

Ms Byrne said her son had spent Christmas Eve at his girlfriend's father's house before returning home at around 1am.

He was last seen on Sandy Lane, where he lived with a flatmate, at approximately 3am.

He is 5’5" (1.65m) in height, has light brown hair and blue eyes.

When last seen, Paul was wearing grey tracksuit bottoms and a black jacket with a Ralph Lauren logo on the right hand side.
