A man died following a shooting incident at a bungalow in Kildare this morning.

Edward Hamilton, 33,was brought to Naas General Hospital with gunshot wounds at around 6am and succumbed to his injuries a short time later.

Gardaí have confirmed a second man, aged in his 50s, is in hospital in Naas following the same shooting incident in Kilmeague. His injuries are not life-threatening.

Investigating gardaí have spoken to the people that were in the house at the time and are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.

Detectives have recovered a legally held shotgun.

No arrests have been made and gardaí have not ruled out that the shooting may have been accidental.
